December 30

Hope to have some new pictures to add later today, but wanted to give a quick update so you would all know what was happening this week.

When the carpenters left last evening, the floor trusses were almost all in place and they were planning to start putting down plywood today.  Not sure if they will get the entire floor closed in, but it is going very well.

Spec was also there working on the exterior of the building, starting to backfill and taking the forms off the two basement stairwells/fire escapes.  When the floor is in place, they will begin to build the upstairs walls.  Not sure yet of the time frame for the completion of the walls.  A lot will depend on weather, which can change overnight this time of year.

As I was praying about our project last evening, something interesting occurred to me.  There have been over 500 page views of our blog in the last 30 days.  If  we had a $500 contribution for each page view that would represent a quarter of our project paid for, more than $250,000!  Food for thought...

Thanks for your continued interest in our project and please continue watching for updates.

Christmas

It is Christmas Eve!  The construction crews have left the job sight and won't be back until mid week.  But the work that has been done so far is tremendous.  The floor trusses are almost all in place and with another good day, they will be completed.  That will mean time to put the decking on and then the carpenters will be done until the upper walls are complete.  Spec continues to work on the concrete part of things and will be backfilling around the foundation as soon as the floor is on.  Then they will pour the upper walls and make the building ready for a roof.  Soon when you crest Colonel's hill, you should be able to see the church!!

I was a bit disappointed that things didn't come together quick enough for us to have our Christmas Eve service at the new building.  I think there would have been something special about singing carols, reading Scripture and praying there together this evening, but it will happen soon.  And next Christmas, we will have all of our Christmas events there.  Something to look forward to!!

Merry Christmas to each and every one!  May God truly add His blessing to this Christmas and the New Year ahead!  And don't forget to join us for our Christmas Eve service at 6 this evening in Weymouth at the A.D. Lab behind the Weymouth Consolidated School.  We will be having service there at 11 tomorrow morning as well.  Come join us as we celebrate the birth of our wonderful Saviour!

December 21

Probably 2 more days of putting floor trusses in place and it will be ready for plywood!  Thanks to those who have put in time to help out with the heavy work!

December 20

This week the floor is coming together.  Spent yesterday getting ready for the floor trusses and started putting some of them in place.  Today, there should be a boom truck coming to set the steel beam in place.  The forman's comment to me late yesterday afternoon, "The floor could be all on by the end of the week!"  Praise the Lord!!

Still need you all to be praying for our finances.  Got some figures on heating and electrical yesterday.  A bit higher than was projected.  But God can and will provide!  Pray believing He can do it.

Now for some new pics....

December 13 Update

Here are some recent pictures.  The change in the site is not as visible the last several days, but the job is still moving ahead.

Progress can be slow

There is not much new to report on the building.  The last couple days we have been hampered by wind and rain.  However, I was at the job site just a few minutes ago and the crew is back at work and will be pouring concrete later today.  There is also a load of floor trusses on its way so the floor can start going together next week.

I am looking forward to seeing more progress next week so I can post a few more pictures that will look like something is happening.  But this lull is not unusual in the building process and I am sure that before it is done, there will be more times like this.

Had a building committee meeting last evening as there are still lots of details to iron out.  I really appreciate each of our board and building committee members who give of their time and talents to make this project reality.  Thanks to each of you!  Please continue to pray for us as we continue to work together to see this project through to completion.

Please keep watching for new updates.

Update

No new pics to share today.  The site looks much the same as in the last pictures, other than some additional reinforcement to the forms to allow them to be filled with concrete.  The pumper truck arrived around noon and the forms have been filled with concrete to within 6 to 8 inches from the top.  There is another couple rounds of forms to be added and then we are ready for the floor.  Probably will be some new pictures tomorrow.

Received an awesome phone call yesterday morning... with a commitment of $80,000 toward our new building!  This a resounding "Praise the Lord!!!!!"  Let's keep praying that God will allow the finances to continue to flow in so we can get this building up completely debt free.

An Opinion Pole

Something we will soon be considering is the colour of the building, both inside and out.  What are your suggestions?  Include them in the comment section below and we will take them into consideration.

It rained on Wednesday and I was away all day Thursday, so here is what I found at the church site today.  A couple days can make a huge difference!!

The basement walls are almost ready to be poured!

Building in Progress

Wow!  It has been an exciting week!  We finally have some great news to report....  The Building Has Begun!!!  Many hours of planning has finally found its reward in the start of construction.  Last week, the excavators were brought back in to take the basement down to grade and since that time, the hole has been dug, footings have been poured and the forms for the walls are being set in place.  I am going to include some pictures of the progress with this post so you can see what is happening.  Please be watching for more as the building continues to go up!

We still have a long way to go with our finances and some further planning decisions to be made, but a lot of that stuff can take place while the project is on going.  Please be praying for God's direction with all this so that we can press on and hopefully be in our building by early spring.

One big prayer request we have is the finances.  We are praying that God would provide in such a way that we could move into this building debt free.  So far, He is honoring that prayer in some amazing ways.  The property we are building on cost us nothing except the survey and legal costs.  The land work has been donated thus far.  And we currently have about half the money needed to complete the building on hand.  But we do have a need for more.  Please continue to pray with us for God's provision!

I included our mailing address before for any who would like to donate and am going to do that again.  Perhaps God is laying Havelock Wesleyan Church on your heart right now.  Why not take a moment to send your donation to: Havelock Wesleyan Church, 4479 Route 340, Weymouth, NS, B0W 3T0.

Thanks for your prayers and financial support as we press on for the Kingdom!
