1,000 gifts of $500

Just a quick note to fill you in on where we are at financially, should you be interested.  We have progressed very well to this point and no money has been borrowed!  Praise the Lord!

However, that will quickly end unless we happen to be blessed with a huge miracle.  We have tendered our mechanical and electrical trades and the end price for having heat, lights and ventilation installed in the building will be close to the $400,000 mark (including taxes).  This is approximately $150,000 more than we had bargained for.

To put it in more relevant terms - even if we draw the maximum amount of mortgage we are approved for, we are now approximately $150,000 short on cash to finish our building.  That means it is going to take approximately $600,000 to bring the entire project to completion and we have $450,000 available to us through a WIF mortgage.  We have cut as many corners as possible and are doing a fair amount of work on our own to help cut costs, but we could use your help.

Many of our friends and sister churches have sent generous contributions to our building fund and the people of our congregation are giving sacrificially and for that we are eternally grateful.  However, as I was praying a few weeks ago, struggling with what to do about this lack of capital, it occurred to me to ask for more.  I am not a person who likes to ask for money.  In fact, I abhor having to ask.  But in this case, I feel compelled to share with you what the Spirit has laid on my heart.

If we had 1,000 individuals or churches who would be willing to contribute just $500 to our building we could not only cover the shortfall we have encountered, we could be in a brand new building with very little or almost no debt!  Wouldn't that be exciting??  A brand new, $1.2 million dollar building with no debt!!  And you can be a part of that!

Disappointingly, to this point we haven't had a great response to this proposal.  Only about 20 gifts have come in, meaning we still need 980 more $500 gifts.  Would you be willing to be part of our building project and contribute just $500 to the Havelock Wesleyan Church Building Fund?

FYI - We have paid for approximately half of our building to this point.  That means somewhere between $500,000 and $600,000 has gone through our account for the building construction in the past several months.  This money came from our insurance settlement, the generous gift from our district, the sacrificial giving of our people and many generous gifts from friends just like you!  Please consider what you could do to help.

If you are able to send a gift of any amount, you can make your cheque payable to Havelock Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 4473 Route 340, Weymouth, NS, B0W 3T0.
