It has been quite a while since I last added an update, so guess now is the time. We are still awaiting news from electricians and plumbers as to the price and anticipated start date on our project so not much has been done at the building sight since the first of March.
That being said, I was excited this week to see heavy equipment roll in and start the excavating process necessary to install retaining walls on the walk-in basement side of the building. Once these walls are completed, it will allow us to begin the rest of the land shaping work needed around the building. And that will allow us to do some more outside work, such as get the siding installed and finishing the car port and roof over the lower level door.
Just as exciting was the news that our steeple is in transit and should arrive at our building by Monday morning. We will unload it from the truck and set up a day and time for its installation. This will be the crowning touch on our church home, making it visible for some distance I hope! I also hope that we will have a big crowd on hand to watch its ascent to the peak and to pray together that this will be a beacon that will draw people to Havelock Wesleyan Church. Be watching for further details and plan to join us!
The carpenters are planning to be back on sight on Monday morning, ready to press on with the rest of the project and we will be meeting with Delmar on Wednesday to review new figures on the mechanical stuff and hopefully setting a day for that phase to begin. So the ball is slowly starting to roll once again! Stay tuned for further updates.
One last thing.... we are still in need of finances and so have begun to ask the Lord to bless us in a new way. If we received 1,000 gifts of $500, we would not have to borrow money to get moved in to our building. That is $500,000, a lot of money, but surely doable when you look at in terms of a smaller gift. Could you help us out with a $500 donation? Sure would appreciate it!! Send your check to Havelock Wesleyan Church, 4473 Rt. 340, Weymouth, NS, Canada, B0W 3T0. And thanks to those who have already given!!
This will be the continuing story of Havelock Wesleyan Church as we embark on the journey of rebuilding after fire destroyed our church home on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

A quick update
It has been a week since new pictures have been added to our blog, yet there is not much new to take pictures of . That doesn't mean that the construction has come to a halt or no progress has been made. We are just at that point where it takes a while to see a difference.
The things that have been accomplished over the last several days are the completion of the strapping on the ceiling. It is now ready for sheetrock when the mechanical and electrical install is finished. The carport has been adorned with shingles and is also ready for electrical work so it can be finished up.
We are continuing to praise the Lord for His provision for our project. Over the last month, $100,000 has been added to our building fund account by various means. One was a district contribution in the amount of $80,000, another was from the estate of a church member, a contribution of $15,000 which will purchase the chairs for the sanctuary. And last, but not least, we have been fundraising for sheetrock, 1,000 sheets at $10 each. This money, $10,000, has been almost completely raised and we are ready to pursue another in house fundraiser.
We continue to pray that God would provide the finances needed to erect and complete this building with very little debt. Our God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, holds the world in the palm of His hand. This is not too big a request for Him! Would you pray with us as we continue to trust in Him?
